The Alternatives/Competitors series was the first major project I worked on at Software Advice. The goal of this content is to highlight a particular software system and then provide some other options similar to that system. We chose to open the title up to either competitors/alternatives based on which had greater search volume.
The first published piece was the Top Salesforce Competitors: The Best Salesforce Alternatives for Your Business. Since its publication in mid-2015, it’s gained over 10,000 unique visits and has become our all-time top converting article.

Vendors are pleased to be featured in this report—so much so that one featured vendor quoted our report on a billboard in Salt Lake City.
Since the Salesforce Alternatives report, we’ve gone on to create over 50 more across all the markets we’re writing for.
This content type and template really set the tone for our content strategy moving forward. While all analyst have their thumb on the pulse of their markets, we strive to find highly-valuable, “templatized” content types that are optimized for conversion and feature a high search volume.
